Classic sound. Legendary background.

To this very day, Focusrite ISA hardware sits in a class of its own; combining world leading design with unrivalled audio clarity. The iconic ISA sound has deep roots, inextricably linked to the legendary recording console designer Rupert Neve and his work on the Focusrite Forte and Studio consoles.

In celebration of the ISA range and Focusrite Heritage Sound we have created a series of wallpapers, optimised for desktop and mobile devices.

Focusrite Studio Console

The story begins in 1985 when Sir George Martin asked legendary recording console designer Rupert Neve to build a no-compromise mic pre and EQ for the console at Air Studios Montserrat. The resulting modules, prefixed with the letters ISA (Input Signal Amplifier), featured a transformer-coupled mic preamplifier, sophisticated EQ and a truly musical compressor design. Found first in the Forte console and subsequently the Studio console, ISA modules were and still are, the epitome of audio clarity.

Red Evolution Mic Pres

Inside each of our flagship range of Red interfaces you will find our Red Evolution Mic Pres. These high caliber mic pres deliver an extremely accurate representation of the original acoustic performance being recorded and emulate the classic ISA Sound known as 'Air'. Although a simple term, the effects of 'Air' are deep and nuanced; vocals become flighty and vibrant; percussion, guitars and other acoustic sources become etherial and nuanced. Mixes are clearer and more emotive. Music comes alive.
